I stood upon a mountain
looking toward the place of the sunrise
and toward the place of the suns setting

far below a road leading to each place
I pondered my path for a long while
my life before me shrouded in mist

my past shrouded in dark memories
what good is it to ponder the future
as I always live in the moment

what good is done by dwelling on the past
as those things are done and sealed
better to let fate have its way

and so I took my chosen path
let the winds of change take me
my heart and my eyes are open

  1. beautiful lesson in positivity. the fact that fate hasn’t thrown up good things in the past doesn’t stop him/her leaving things to fate. for this reason i like how it questions fate – if the person contemplates the roads, then the issue of free will is at play. in other words, why do we have choices if our fates have been decided. brilliant take on the themes raised in ‘the road not taken’. just love the subtle argument in this piece.

    • Thank you so much! I do believe in fate and free will, it amazes me that one small decision, such as taking the one path as opposed to the other can set the course of our futures. But are those decisions so random, or is that the hand of fate?
Thank you so much for reading and for the inspired comment!
